KOTD: Love Lace

Today it was time to take off my Hello Kitty manicure and to make something new. I am impressed that I still had no tipwear but the manicure was already growing out what doesn’t look so nice with a black nail polish as a base color. :(

When MAC’s Love Lace collection was released here I wasn’t sure if I wanted to buy the one nail polish Light Affair that was released with it. However after seeing swatches the lemming came back and I am glad that I caved.

A Love Lace konadicure was the second MAC look that came into my mind when I thought about which MAC collections I could use as an inspiration for a konadicure. In contrast to the MAC Hello Kitty konadicure I wanted to something more simple and classy.

The m71 image plate includes my favorite Lace motifs and instead of using the Konad special polish in black I used the black creme nail polish from p2. I just don’t like how the Konad special polishes smear when you add a layer of top coat. Not pretty. :(

But now to the pictures. :)

base color: MAC – Light Affair, three coats
Konad m71 with p2 – eternal (210)
top of Konad stamping filled in with p2 – eternal (210)
black round and symmetric tear shaped rhinestones

Of course I also added some rhinestones! :D
From an Essence rhinestone set (a new one of it is included in my giveaway) I picked the symmetric tear shaped black rhinestones and round black rhinestones that I bought separately. Do you know where I can get more of these symmetric tear shaped rhinestones? I only can find non-symmetric ones. :(

After I stamped the Konad motif and added the rhinestones I wasn’t really happy how it looked. It looked kinda unfinished. I don’t have any nail art brushes but I still had some artistic brushes so I grabbed one and filled in the top part of the lace motif with the black nail polish which looks much more complete. :)

Absolutely beautiful! I really don’t think this could have came out any better. The rhinestones just pull everything together for me. So lovely!

This is beautiful! I love the Konad pattern you used and how the rhinestones seem to melt into the design. You have *gorgeous* nails. I just had to chop mine off because I broke three and I hate uneven nail lengths.

Light Affair reminds me a lot of OPI’s Tickle My France-y polish.

Thank you all! :)

Deniz the round black rhinestones are from a german online nailart store: http://www.naildesigneurodiscount.de/
The symmetric tear shaped black rhinestones are from the purple Essence nail art/jewels rhinestone set (02). I am looking for more of them too because the set only includes like 20 of them. I’d love to buy more but not with the entire set. :(

Kate & Zena I don’t like uneven nails too but I also can understand why to keep the long nails. If one of mine would break I don’t know what I would do with the precious longer nails. :(

Edit: I just saw that the online store liked above has black symmetric tear shaped rhinestones too but they seem larger or less wide.

Swatchaholic–It’s hard when they’re really short. It feels really weird. I can’t keep them horribly long (I wear contact lenses) but those few extra centimeters help when I’m brushing out Zena (aka the Dog). She has short terrier fur but it gets stuck in her undercoat and the nails help get the fur out of the undercoat.

What a beautiful manicre! I love the lace design and the black rhinestones. The shade of that MAC polish in combination with the black is really lovely. You’ve really outdone yourself with this manicure. I love the Konad lace patterns.

This is gorgeous. It’s really lovely. The colors work well together & the lace pattern is pretty. Where’d you get those tear shaped rhinestones?

the-swatchaholic said on January 12th, 2010 at 10:58

Thank you all for your lovely comments! :)

Kate & Zena I can’t keep my nails super long too because I don’t like the feeling when the nail itself touches the keyboard when I am typing something. It feels.. weird. As soon as I feel the nail touching the keyboard I have to shorten them.

Nicole O. I got the tear shaped rhinestones from my local drugstore. They are included in a set from a german brand called Essence: http://www.essence.eu/en/products/nails/nail-art.html
The set is called “milky way 02″. It is also included in my giveaway. :)

I am on the hunt for more of these rhinestones too because I don’t want to buy the entire set again just because I am running out of the black tear shaped rhinestones. I checked ebay but they only have these crooked tear shaped rhinestones. :(

Thank you so much miss patel and Suzanne!

Light Affair could be a tricky color and not work on every skintone. :(
I have yellow undertones and luckily it works on me.
