Zoya – Ultra Glitter Winter 09: Swatches and Review

I am a little late to the Zoya Ultra Glitter party but I thought quite some time if I should purchase them or not. But then I finally caved and ordered them and I am glad I did. Because.. well.. GLITTER! 😀

The Zoya Ultra Glitter collection for Winter 09 included three nail polishes full of glitter in sheer base colors.

Let’s start with my favorite of this collection. Astra is glittery deliciousness with hexagon shaped red and either light pink or silver glitter in a sheer raspberry jelly base. This is four coats.

The gray base color of Luna seems more opaque than the base color of Astra and Nova. Also it looks that it contains a bit of shimmer. The glitter in Luna is silver and is hexagon shaped. I applied four coats of Luna.

Nova has a sheer magenta jelly base color with either light pink or silver hexagon shaped glitter. I applied three coats but the last coat was a bit thicker.

It took me a while but I am so glad that I finally caved and bought this collection. They look stunning on their own but because you still can see my nail line in the pictures you probably need five coats for a better coverage. Without a top coat they do look a wee bit dull due to the glitter but with a coat of a thick top coat like Seche Vite they become high shine glittery deliciousness. 😀

I love how they look on their own but I do have other plans with these. My main plan with these gorgeous glitter nail polishes is to use them for layering.

Have you bought some or all of the Zoya Ultra Glitter collection nail polishes and if yes which ones? Do you like them on their own or do you prefer them for layering? :)

    • Thank you Pascale!

The surface of these glitter nail polishes is a bit bumpy due to the glitter without a top coat. But with a layer of a thick top coat like Seche Vite or Poshe the surface becomes smooth. :)
I had no other nail polishes under these glitter nail polishes when I took the pictures but I want to layer them over other nail polishes soon. I am curious how they will look over a black nail polish.
