China Glaze – Poolside Summer 2010: Swatches and Review

Hello neons! :D

Today it snowed again here and the package with China Glaze’s Poolside nail polishes couldn’t have come to a better time. I love winter.. I really do but after weeks of snow where you almost can’t leave the house unless you like to fall down on the streets its enough.

But these bright nail polishes cheered me up. :)

Before your eyes will start to hurt because of the enormous brightness of these neons please be aware that they are even brighter IRL. Cameras can’t capture the brightness of neons accurate and also computer screens put their head down in shame when it comes to neons.

Flip Flop Fantasy

 three coats

Unfortunately I only have one picture of Flip Flop Fantasy. The lighting on my window even though the sky was cloudy was still too bright. The glowing of this nail polish freaked my camera out. The glowing outshined the skin around my nails and it looked scary. I only could take one decent picture in the shade with no direct light hence the blurriness. This is really bugging me because I always want to make sure that my pictures are sharp. :(
But on the bright side the color of Flip Flop Fantasy in this picture is pretty close to IRL. The only difference is that Flip Flop Fantasy is even brighter IRL. Neon coral with a bit of pink deliciousness!

Kiwi Cool-Ada

 four coats

Kiwi Cool-Ada is a medium fluorescent green. My camera luckily had less trouble with this one. This nail polish of course is even brighter IRL as well. :D

Pool Party

three coats

Pool Party is one of my favorites from this collection. It is a warmer pink with more yellow. Think Sugar High but as a bright, bright a bit darker neon. Again this nail polish is much brighter IRL.
Due to its crazy glowing in direct light I had to take pictures of Pool Party in indirect light too and this was the only sharp one. :(

Sun Worshiper

four coats

Another one of my favorites from this collection! Sun Worshiper is a gorgeous light neon orange. IRL it does look a bit lighter and of course 100 times brighter. :D

Towel Boy Toy

three coats

Towel Boy Toy is my favorite from the Poolside collection. I am wearing it right now as my manicure! :D
It is the only nail polishes with shimmer in this collection. The other five nail polishes have a creme (with a bit jelly?) formula. The base of Towel Boy Toy is a bright medium blue with a hint of teal. The shimmer is very subtle but gorgeous. Towel Boy Toy is a bit darker IRL. My camera had a bit trouble with this color too and even with color correction I couldn’t get this color 100% accurate. :(
This nail polish is less neon than the other nail polishes from this collection. But I know this neon-blue phenomenon from my highlighters. The blue was always the less neon highlighter. :D

Yellow Polka Dot Bikini

five coats

Yellow Polka Dot Bikini is so pretty.. but also so sheer. After the fourth coat I still had a visible nail line so I had to apply a fifth coat. The color is fun though and of course much, much brighter IRL. :D

The application on the lighter neons like Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, Kiwi Cool-Ada or Sun Worshiper was a bit tricky. These neon nail polishes dry to a semi-matte finish and they dry quick. You have to hurry a bit with the application or it will get even more streaky.
On all pictures I am wearing a coat of Seche Vite on top.

Do you already have a wishlist from this collection or are you not a fan of neons?
