Illamasqua – Pastel Nails: Swatches and Review

There is still no end for the pastel nail trend in sight. 😀

Getting my hands on Illamasqua’s Pastel Nails nail polish collection seemed like a odyssey but after they took a turn back to the UK they finally arrived about a week ago.

Illamasqua nail polishes are quite expensive with 13 GBP per bottle so I was debating a lot with myself if I should buy them or not. If you buy all four as a set you save 13 GBP and get four for the price of three but even then.. 39 GBP plus shipping is a lot for four nail polishes.
In the end I caved because I have never tried Illamasqua nail polishes before and I just love pastel nail polishes.

Let’s take a look at the Illamasqua Pastel Nails collection. :)

 three coats

The application of Blow was ok. The first two coats were streaky but with a third coat it was manageable.
Blow looks a bit less warm than China Glaze’s Lemon Fizz. It makes me crave lemon ice cream. 😀

 three coats

Hello pretty baby blue! I am surprised how much I like this nail polish. The formula was a bit streaky but opaque with three coats as well.
Because I don’t have any other baby blue nail polishes Caress is a unique color in my collection. 😀

three coats

Nudge is my second favorite of the Pastel Nails collection. I love this aqua shade.. love love love it!
The formula was better than the formula of Blow and Caress. Two coats could have been enough but I applied a third coat nonetheless. :)

two coats

Lavender. Lavender creme. Love. Love it so so much.
Of course the lavender had to be my favorite again. I just can’t help it. 😀
Wink was a bit more difficult to capture in the pictures. Even with color editing I couldn’t get the color 100% right. It is a bit more muted and a tiny bit warmer IRL.
In the bottle Wink looks a lot like Essie’s Lilacism but I have to compare them on the nails to see how close they really are.
The formula of Wink was great. :)

For all swatches I applied one coat of Seche Vite over the Pastel Nails nail polishes. They are a bit less shiny without a top coat.

Do you have bought any of the Illamasqua Pastel Nails nail polishes yet?
Even if we already have seen a lot of pastels lately I somehow find them to be more unique. I don’t know how but even they are pastels they do have a bit of a bright glow.
The most unique color for me is Nudge. I don’t have any nail polish that is close to it.

Currently the set of all four nail polishes for the price of three is sold out but I hope Illamasqua will restock them. :)

  1. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for showing the polish on the different skin tones!!! HOW AMAZING OF YOU! 😀

    Keep up the good work!

Wow, you don’t even know how perfectly helpful this post is! I’ve been curious about the coverage/look of Illamasqua varnishes, and how certain shades would look on my skin – this post is exactly what I was looking for.

    Thank you!!

  3. ShortAndSweetNails: The international shipping on should be £7.50. :)
I am crossing my fingers that they will show up on, though because they would be cheaper then. :)

Katie: Yes they remind me of easter as well. :)

  4. I wish they would be less than 13 GBP. I would buy more of the Illamasqua nail polishes then, Vesna. I do have some more on my wishlist. :(

Aww thank you Rebecca! I love this collection too! They are the most vibrant pastels (without beeing neon of course) I have seen so far.

Can’t you order them on ShortAndSweetNails? The set is sold out there but they are still available as single nail polishes. The set for 13 GBP less was nicer though. :(

    Thank you PolishedSheep! :)
You could order them as well from I don’t know if they will be available at or at the Illamasqua counters in the US but I hope they will be. *fingers crossed*

  5. They look so gorgeous! Though I’m not a fan of pastel colors :) Wink is also my favorite one!
    Thanks for swatches! :)

    p.s. I agree – 13 GBP is really a bit too much for a nail polish :/

  6. Ooh they do look gorgeous! How does Wink compare to OPI Done Out In Deco? Are they different enough to justify me getting the Illamasqua one? Thanks!

    • Thank you Laura! :)
Done Out In Deco looks a bit darker and even more muted than Wink. It is too dark now to compare them in daylight but I would say that Wink is different enough to Done Out In Deco to justify getting Wink. But I will try to make comparisons tomorrow. :)
