Tired of taupe cremes? A layering experiment with CND’s Gold Sparkle, Jade Sparkle and Sugar Sparkle

Hi everyone!

I know, I know. Beeing tired of taupe cremes? Crazy talk!
But seriously. So many brands are releasing taupe/brown-gray/greige/indefinable nail polishes that at some point you could get a bit overwhelmed or even bored by them.
With Ingrid from their Vintage Vixen Fall 2010 collection China Glaze brought a breath of fresh air into the taupe hype with adding a bit of shimmer to the nail polish.

I am not tired of taupe cremes yet and I must admit: the more the merrier but after a few days of wearing American Apparel’s Mouse I got bored and wanted to remove it. Right in time an order with three CND Effects nail polishes arrived so I decided – inspired by Ingrid – to layer them on top of Mouse before I would remove it.

Let’s take a closer look at how CND’s Gold Sparkle, Jade Sparkle and Sugar Sparkle look over Mouse. :)

Edit alert! I added pictures of Crimson Sparkle and Amethyst Sparkle. :D

CND effects – Gold Sparkle, one coat

Sigh.. I can’t get enough of the Sparkle Effects! :)
Do you have a favorite CND Effects or an other favorite layering nail polish?

Thanks for looking and have a great Sunday!

Oh, they’re so pretty! I can’t pick a favourite. I’ve never tried anything by CND, but these look really tempting!

They all look great! I would love to see how it would look with CND Amethyst Sparkle. I don’t have any either but would like that one.

Gold sparkle looks fantastic :)

I’m not usually one for layering, but I think these turned out gorgeous, and it definitely adds to the original polish. I need to pick up a bottle of the sparkles! Great swatches :)

Gorgeous! I did a cute layering on my toes the other day quite randomly – must recreate it on hands to show the pics. All the sparkles have so much potential but it’s hard to remember to dig them out for layer play when so many beautiful-on-their-own colors find a new home on the same box…

I don’t own these CND sparkles but judging by the pics Jade Sparkle is my fav :)

Nice layering! I bought Crimson and Gold sparkle today (and the good old Limelight <3). I have to admit that I'm really impressed by the CND effects although layering is nothing new. CND did a great job on these effects. *thumbs up*

When these were first shown I was very much “so what?”.
But they have grown on me greatly. Sadly they are not available here to my knowledge so that’s just tough….

Michelle: But but but! :D
But I tend to forget them as well, unfortunately. :(

Pinch: I am glad that you like the swatches of the CND Effects. They are definitely worth a try. :)

Sugar Sparkle is stunning aaminahs mom, yes! I wish I would know if it is perm. :(

Millie: I added pictures of Amethyst (pinkie) and Crimson Sparkle (thumb). :)

It does, Marta!

Ping: Thank you!
My favorites so far are Crimson and Jade Sparkle.. no wait.. Gold and Sugar Sparkle and also Amethyst Sparkle! Help.. I love them all! :D

Doo: I’d love to see this manicure! Yes I mostly grab beautiful-on-their-own polishes as well. I need to play with the Effects more!

Maestra: Lucky you! I am still on the hunt for Limelight. :(

Oops! I am so sorry for the enabling, Bluebell! :D

Jenni: I have to buy them in the US as well because they are not available here. They are worth the effort, though. :)

Wow I love all of these effects! I don’t have any CND and have a few different layering options but not as many as most =)

My fave is… well… all of them :D
I like to layer my creme np with glitters sometimes but sparkle effects looks like a good alternative too !

Polish Hoarder said on July 19th, 2010 at 22:49

I loooooooove that Sugar Sparkle!! I really want some of those CND effects but I can never find them! :( I may have to just break down and buy some on the internet.

i was thinking the same thing. i took a clean bottle and filledit 2/3 full of sallty hansen commander in chic and the rest with wet n wild color craze in shield, a shimmery, mettalic, cool gold. it looks really nice , i thought. i also got something that looks very similar to chanel’s paradoxal by taking another clean bottle and filling it again with about 2/3 commander in chic and the rest with opi’s ink. paradoxal kinda looked like particuliere mixed with vendetta, so it made sense to me.

Polish Hoarder: I highly recommend to check at least Sugar Sparkle out. The interwebs is not as evil as it sounds. :)
