Hi everyone! ![]()
Yesterday the three nail polishes 525 Quartz, 529 Graphite and 531 Peridot from the Illusions d’Ombre de Chanel Fall 2011 collection arrived and I am so grateful a dear friend helped me to get my hands on them before they are released here.
I love love love Fall makeup and nail polish collections and the Illusions d’Ombre de Chanel makes no excuse. I am glad the eye shadow quad and the cream eye shadows are perm because sooner or later I need to buy them too. ♥
Without much rambling let’s go straight to the swatches!

You can buy Chanel at almost every perfumery or department store. The Illusions d’Ombre collection is already out in the US and sadly I don’t know when exactly it will be released in Europe.
In the US Chanel nail polishes retail for $25 and in Germany for around 22,95 €. Depending on where you buy them they can be a bit cheaper or a bit more expensive.
525 Quarz is not limited edition according to Temptalia but sadly 529 Graphite and 531 Peridot are limited edition.
Chanel – 525 Quartz: three
Chanel – 529 Graphite: two
Chanel – 531 Peridot: two
The application of Graphite was a bliss. I love foil nail polishes and Graphite is no exception. The gunmetal foiled base with gold foiled sparkles is just utterly gorgeous. Peridot applied well too but you will experience the application to be a bit streaky but once Peridot dries most of the streaks disappear. Quartz needed one more coat than Graphite and Peridot to be opaque and it was also a bit more streaky than Peridot and also less streaks disappeared once it dried.
Next to the sparkly Graphite and the breathtaking Peridot Quartz looks a bit unspectacular but nonetheless it is a pretty muted light brown frost. What makes it a bit more interesting are the pink and blue sparkles.
I am a bit bummed that Quartz will be the only permanent nail polish from Illusions d’Ombre de Chanel. I wish Graphite and Peridot would have been added to the permanent nail polishes from Chanel too.
All in all I am glad I purchased all three nail polishes because all of them are truly gorgeous but Peridot and Graphite are my favorites. I adore duochrome nail polishes and seeing a stunning duochrome from Chanel makes me happy.
If Illusions d’Ombre de Chanel is already released in your country have you purchased something from this collection and how do you like it? If it’s not released in your country yet what is on your wishlist?
Thanks for looking and have a great start of the week! ♥

Have both quartz and peridot – not too big a fan of graphite, because I prefer metallic shimmer over metallic micro-sequins
But love them both, peridot for special occasions and quartz is mu no 1 every-day nail lacquer.
Peridot is such a love lovely nail polish pandaen!
No wonder that so many companies now release similar nail polishes. I am glad you love Quartz too!
I saw in person this three nail polish and I thought: I’ll buy Graphite. I can live without the others… and now I’ve read your blog… I need ALL, the three… um… maybe I can live without Quartz… AMAZING PHOTOS, AMAZING BLOG!!!
Thank you so so much Eva María!
Peridot is definitely a stunning nail polish too! I love both Graphite and Peridot. Quartz is nice but not a must-have in my opinion.
I have bought Graphite and Peridote, and I love them! I need a top coat but I live in Almería, a little town in Andalucia, Spain, and I don’t have many brands here like Seche Vite, CND, OPI, etc… Would you like to recomend me some online stores? And I would like to know more about your manicures, nails treatment, your tips, etc… Thank you very much, I’m in love with this blog!
Check out ebay – if you order from EU you don’t have to pay extra VAT/customs. I buy OPI, china glaze and Essie from US, since they are less than 10€/per bottle and therefore I don’t have to pay extra customs (there is a minimal purchase limit where you don’t have to pay these laaarge charges once a product crosses the border – and in Denmark it is a little more than 10€).
Thank you so much Eva María!
I adore OPI Nail Envy but the best working base coat depends on your nail chemistry and if your nails are soft/hard, thin/thick, peel/don’t peel or if they break or not.
As nail care I can highly recommend Lush Lemony Flutter and Lush Smitten as hand cream.
I also like the Burts Bees cuticle butter.:)
Yes I buy a lot of my nail polishes online but I sadly can’t specifically recommend an online store I am sorry.

I’m wearing the Quartz on fingers and toes right now. It’s a great! Goes with everything. Goes on easy. Adds great sparkle.
Quartz is really pretty, Poppy.
I am glad you like it!
I want the 525 as well
Aww just 525 hun?
But you don’t like too many sparkles/shimmer, right?
Then Quartz will be a great purchase, Susanne.
*miss you*
I typically wear cool colors on my nails since I have a lot of redness in my hands but I couldn’t resist the allure of Peridot. It’s so unusual that I needed to own it. I just hope my nails look as nice as yours once I wear these.

Every single swatch I’ve seen of Peridot has been gorgeous – yours is obviously no exception! Should I get it? Ahhh my birthday *is* coming up… present to myself? =P
I would say yes Jello Kitty.
Peridot is truly stunning and a great birthday present. Sadly I couldn’t do a wear test yet but even if it would chip fast it’s still a great purchase imo.
Ahh, I did it! You’re such an enabler! =P Can’t wait for my very own Peridot *tears of joy* lol

I caved and bought Graphite when I was planning on only bagging Peridot. Gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous! I’m so glad I picked up both. My b-day is in August, and I know what I’m wearing!!

Graphite is so gorgeous Laura! I am sure you will not regret buying it.
Hmmmm let me guess.. you will be wearing Peridot?
I love Peridot!!! Thanks for the swatches! I will probably purchase the other two polishes.
You are very welcome Jeanie Barbee!
Chanel does Fall nail polish so well.
I bought graphite and quartz only since I am not all that much into wearing any greens for polish (call me dull – I know, most polish heads adore greens). I was disappointed with quartz but agree it’s salvation is the blue and pink flecks – only you are the only one that will notice them as they don’t reflect out far enough for others to pick up on them. The streaks in this one and the need to apply 3-4 coats drives me nuts. But graphite is a major win for me. Pewter with a twist of gold flecks in it makes this a home run and I think will go down as a real collectors shade for years to come.
Quartz really is difficult to apply meme.
The pink and blue sparkles are only visible when you look close so I only would recomment to pick up Quartz if you like a work-safe muted brown and have a lot of patience because of the brush strokes.
