China Glaze – Metro for Fall 2011 – Part 1 Downtown: Swatches and Review

China Glaze Metro Fall 2011 Collection Downtown

It’s Metro time! :D
That fall nail polish and makeup collections are the ones I am looking forward to all year is no secret. Especially China Glaze’s Fall collections have a special place in my heart because their 2008 Rodeo Diva collection was the collection which stole my heart and made me the nail polish enthusiast I am now.
This year’s Metro Fall collection is inspired by City loving celebrities and it’s aim is to capture the big city feel in 12 sexy, sophisticated shades.

Because a twelve nail polish collection is picture heavy and I love to post two swatches of one nail polish I splitted my Metro swatches and review into two posts focusing each on the set Downtown or Uptown. Let’s get started with Downtown! :)

Concrete Catwalk

Concrete Catwalk is a dark almost cool toned gray crème. Like all crème nail polishes from Metro it applied like a bliss. One thing I noticed about most of the crèmes is that they look darker on the nails than in the bottle.
Loft-y Ambitions

Loft-y Ambitions surprisingly is one of my favorites from Metro. I love the subtle silver micro-shimmer in the burgundy base. :)
Midtown Magic

Glass flecks! Yes I can’t get enough of them and I squee every time I see them in a nail polish. Midtown Magic’s blackened brown base is full of gold and red glass flecks.
Skyscraper

Skyscraper contains small square shaped silver glitter in it’s medium to dark blue jelly base and it makes me think of frankening. Add a dark blue jelly and you might have a perfect recipe for a Starry Starry Night franken.
Trendsetter

There it is my favorite nail polish from Metro! :D Trendsetter is the outstanding nail polish from the entire Metro collection for me. The almost mustard looking yellow-green base and the gold glass flecks make together such an unusual but gorgeous nail polish. If you love colors like Trendsetter it’s definitely a must-have.
Westside Warrior

Westside Warrior was another nail polish from Metro that looks darker on the nails than in the bottle. At first – just guessing from a bottle comparison with Chanel Khaki Vert – it looks as if Westside Warrior is a slightly darker version of Khaki Vert but on the nails Westside Warrior is even more darker and also a bit less muted than it looks in the bottle. Definitely a color I am looking forward to wear again, though. :)

The Metro nail polishes were sent to me by China Glaze for review consideration.

The formula of all nail polishes from the Downtown set from the China Glaze Metro collection was great. The crèmes especially were a bliss to apply. From this set my favorites are Trendsetter, Loft-y Ambitions, Midtown Magic and Westside Warrior.

Will you pick up nail polishes from the Metro Downtown set? Which are your favorites so far?

Thanks for looking and have a great week! ♥ :)

I love Skyscraper. Glitters! I love my glitters. Gosh, they always do a number to your nails (um, yea, I tend to pick them off the minute I find a chip because they just PEEL right off. Heh heh heh….not good for your nails one bit), but I love them!

    • the-swatchaholic on said:

Yes sadly a lot of glitter seem to chip fast Kate & Zena. :(
If you don’t mind losing the translucent glitter look you could layer a blue jelly under Skyscraper which could improve it’s wear. But because I haven’t worn Skyscraper as a full manicure yet I don’t know if it chips or not.

I love your swatches, and your pics are excellent! I am glad to see these.I’d seen a swatch of Midtown Magic before, and it looked more red to me,but I believe yours may be more true to color, considering the description. I really love the glass flecks in that one,but the one that really stands out from these six to me is Loft-y Ambitions! What great swatches!!!
