Franken NOTD: Waking up at Midnight or why it’s so much fun to franken with flakie top coats

The Swatchaholic franken Waking up at Midnight with Essence Waking up in Vegas, Essence Feels so good, Essence 76 Cool and the Gang and American Apparel Hassid

One reason – besides me beeing obsessed with them – why I bought so many backups of the flakie top coats Waking up in Vegas and Feels so good from Essence is because I wanted to franken with them. When my best friend visited me two weeks ago from Belgium we made a manicure session and I also started frankening. I wanted to franken a little collection of flakie nail polishes and started with a dark blue jelly flakie and a red flakie. Today I’d like to show you the dark blue jelly flakie franken Waking up at Midnight. :)

Frankening is so much fun especially when it’s pretty simple with mixing different nail polishes.
Especially clear flakie nail polishes like Essence Waking up in Vegas, Nubar 2010 or Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure are great for frankens when you mix them with a jelly or a creme. Nail polishes with glass flecks or large shimmer like the CND Sparkle Effects or Essence Feels so good also from the Re-mix your Style collection are great to add some more sparkles. :)

I am not very experienced with frankening and I am always afraid to waste precious nail polish so I only franken very little amounts in a 5 ml bottle from the clear Essence color & go nail polish. This means less ml from the franken but I also can franken more different colors with the same amount of ingredients I would use in a 10 ml bottle. I still want to franken a green jelly and a bright orange jelly flakie and can’t wait to franken them! 😀

At first I just wanted to franken the flakie top coat Waking up in Vegas in a jelly base but then I thought adding smaller sparkles with Feels so good would give the nail polish more depth. I really like how Waking up at Midnight came out.

Do you like to franken your own nail polishes? If yes what was your favorite franken?

I hope you enjoyed my franken Waking up at Midnight. I am still such a franken noob. :)

    • Hello and thank you so much Nailderella! :)

Please understand that even if you wanted to tell me about adding me I had to remove the link from your comment. Links to own sites in comments are considered as link spam and will always be removed and even if I believe your link wasn’t spam I have to be consistent. I am sorry. :(

    • Yes I don’t want to waste any precious ingredient too, Lianne. I am definitely less worried now that I use smaller bottles. It also helps to swatch on a nail wheel in-between the mixing process. :)
