I strongly believe nails are happier when also hands and cuticles are taken good care of and especially now in the cooler seasons proper hand and cuticle care is essential. Therefore I have hand cream everywhere and moisturize my hands almost religiously.
A week ago I finally found the new Essence Winter 2011 Edition of their 24h hand protection balm hand cream including Raspberry Chocolate Cookie, Strawberry Cream Cupcake and Vanilla Apple Pie and purchased them all because they usually sell out fast.
When I purchase a hand cream which retails for 95 Eurocents I don’t expect a rich and deeply moisturizing and reparing hand cream but a nice in-between hand cream – which the Essence Winter 2011 24h hand protection balms are.
I am no ingredient expert so I made close-ups of the ingredients of all three Essence Winter 2011 hand creams:
Raspberry Chocolate Cookie has a strong Raspberry top note and the chocolate scent is more subtle. It is my favorite and I went kind of backup crazy with it. 😀 The top note of Strawberry Cream Cupcake predictably is strawberry with a subtle creamy scent in the background. It reminds me of strawberry candy. It smells a bit like the typical fake strawberry scent and is my least favorite but I still like it. The scent of Vanilla Apple Pie reminds me of apple cookies and it feels so warm. Kind of cozy. It’s hard to identify the top note here because both the vanilla and apple scents are strong but balanced.
If you have really dry hands they might not be moisturizing enough but if you are looking for a nice and cheap hand cream I would recommend to check them out. I like to use them at work or during the day in general but in the evening I need something richer like Lush’s Smitten. As a first moisturizer in the morning I also prefer to keep using Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve to give my hands a better moisture kick to start well in the day.
Have you purchased any of the Winter Edition 2011 hand creams?
Thanks for looking and have a great week! ♥
