Layering NOTD: Clarins – 230 over CND effects – Sheer 24k Sparkle over Models Own – Peacock Green

Layering with Clarins 230 over CND effects Sheer 24k Sparkle over Models Own Peacock Green

As gorgeous as Models Own Peacock Green is I just couldn’t leave it alone after wearing it for one day so I picked the layering all-time classic Clarins 230 and my latest CND effects purchase Sheer 24k Sparkle to layer them over Peacock Green.

There are not enough words to describe how much I love Clarins 230. I have been lemming it for years and never thought I would own it. Somehow somewhere someone must have found a few boxes of this long discontinued beauty so it made its way in larger amounts back on evilbay which reduced the ridiculous high to a still high but almost bearable price.

The CND effects top coat Sheer 24k Sparkle is from CND’s The Look: Fall/Winter 2011 set which also includes two gorgeous cremes. I can’t resist new CND sparkle effects so of course I had to purchase it the second it came out. ๐Ÿ˜€

Coats used
Models Own โ€“ Peacock Green: three
CND effects – Sheer 24k Sparkle: one
Clarins – 230: one
Base coat and top coat
Base coat: OPI – Nail Envy Matte
Top Coat: Essence – Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer

Both CND Sheer 24k Sparkle and Clarins 230 are giving the manicure a warmer look and are also toning the bright teal of Peacock Green down a bit. This combination has an almost antique look and I am glad how pretty it turned out.

Are you having a soft spot for the CND sparkle effects too?

Thanks for looking and have a great week! โ™ฅ :)

  1. You are a layering Goddess! I’m always in awe :)

I’ve started trying a few combos but yeah it would make me nervous to try my Clarins 230, worried I’d “ruin it”. But you do inspire me!!

I wound up ordering the MO peacock, thanks to you :) Can’t wait to try it!

    • Thank you so much Jo! :)
It usually takes about an hour till I am finished with a layering which is about around 20 minutes longer than for a regular manicure with one nail polish. What often takes longer though is to pick the different nail polishes I want to layer with. ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. HOLY. CRAP. This is all kinds of awesome!! If I could afford it, I would so get a bottle of Clarins 230…it’s so versatile and I haven’t seen a single thing with it that I don’t like.

  3. Would be really nice to see a swatch of just the Clarins 230 so I could see what all the fuss is about! I’m sure I could google it but am lazy!! And I have 7 of the CND effects so far-they are so fun!

Just Clarins 230 is very, very thin and sheer. It has a light purply base, and at three coats it’s still incredibly thin. Which really works in its favour, because its strength and amazing wow-factor are in how it pops when layered over vibrant tones.

    • On its own Clarins 230 is pretty but not that exciting because it is so sheer, Fingers. You would need maybe five or six coats to get it opaque which is why I will never swatch it on its own. It would use up my precious 230 too fast. :(

    • Aww thank you so much Jenn! :) I mostly use the basic idea of shimmery base, a glitter and sheer shimmer for my layerings. For color combinations I like to combine kind of everything. ๐Ÿ˜€
