One of the most anticipated releases in 2011 surely are the Models Own Beetlejuice nail polishes Aqua Violet, Emerald Black, Golden Green, Pinky Brown and Purple Blue. When the first promo pictures showed up I was instantly sold on their multichrome look and the waiting for the release was hard because it felt like forever. On November 1st – the second they were available online – I purchased all five nail polishes in a heartbeat and I actually squeed when they arrived a few days ago.
There are three different finishes in the Beetlejuice collection. The first texture is a very shimmery, almost metallic looking multichrome in Aqua Violet and Golden Olive, a subtle but delicate multichrome shimmer in Emerald Black and a strong foil-like multichrome finish with large glass flecks in Pinky Brown and Purple Blue. The last texture reminds me of the finish of MAC Bad Fairy and the Orly Cosmic FX nail polishes.
Such a stunning collection and the best thing: they are perm. If a color or the set of the Beetlejuice collection is currently sold out you don’t have to worry and run panicky to ebay because they will be back in stock because they are no limited edition. The Beetlejuice nail polishes are a new finish addition to the permanent Models Own range.
I adore duochrome and multichrome nail polishes and the Beetlejuice nail polishes make no exception. The colors are stunning and so is the variety of the finishes. The application was great except that all but Emerald Black are a bit sheer and need three coats for full opacity.
Now there is one bad point which Models Own nail polishes have in my view: They contain toluene. I think in 2011 it is not necessary to have a nail polish formula with toluene as a solvent and I wish Models Own would change their formula. That it’s possible for Models Own to create nail polishes without toluene shows their Models Own Pro range of salon nail polishes. They are free of it.
If you are ok with using nail polishes with toluene the Models Own Beetlejuice colleciton is a great purchase. As much as I think magnetic nail polishes are fun I personally wish multichromes would be the new crackle and that more brands would release them.
Have you already purchased any of the Beetlejuice nail polishes or even the entire collection?
Thanks for looking and have a great week! ♥
