Illamasqua – Theatre of the Nameless Fall/Winter 2011 nail polishes Faux Pas and Kink: Swatches, Photos and Review

Illamasqua Theatre of the Nameless Fall Winter 2011 nail polishes nail varnishes Kink Faux Pas swatch swatches photos review

Illamasqua is one of my favorite brands because it dares to be different and with every new release my heart is beating faster when I see the new artworks and products. When I received the package with the nail polishes Faux Pas and Kink from their Fall/Winter 2011 collection Theatre of the Nameless I was stunned. Illamasqua always astonishes me with their packaging. I just love how they even adapt the filling material for different collections. The little extra this time were two velvet clothes sprayed with Illamasqua’s first fragrance Freak.

The Theatre of the Nameless nail varnishes have a new rubber look which is basically a satin finish and apposite to the satin finish of the nail polishes the bottle caps are matte. I love how they feel and I wish all Illamasqua nail varnishes had these caps because they feel so soft.

Faux Pas

Faux Pas is such a gorgeous medium purple satin creme. It reminds me of a lighter version of colors like China Glaze Grape Pop. The application was a bliss and Faux Pas covered perfectly and smooth after two coats. One thick coat would have been opaque too.
Kink

Green is next to purple my favorite color for nail polishes so it was no surprise I would love the color of Kink. It is such a pretty bottle green. The application of Kink was perfect too and like Faux Pas I used two medium coats for the swatches while one thick coat would have been opaque too. The satin finish of Kink is a bit more shiny than the finish of Faux Pas.

Availability Illamasqua nail polishes
The Illamasqua Theatre of the Nameless nail polishes can be purchased at illamasqua.com for currently £13.50 a bottle or at selected Sephora stores and sephora.com for currently $14 a bottle. The official Illamasqua store ships international.

Faux Pas: two
Kink: two
Illamasqua nail polishes contain 15 ml.
Faux Pas and Kink were sent to me by Illamasqua for review consideration.

At first I was sceptical if I would like the satin finish of the Theatre of the Nameless nail polishes but Faux Pas and Kink have convinced me with their great formula and gorgeous satin finish. They are not just flat satiny – they have a bit of a grainy texture which adds something special to them.
I really like how the rubber texture makes the nails look almost sophisticated.

Have you already purchased anything from the Theatre of the Nameless collection? :)

Thanks for looking and have a great week! ♥

  2. They look so stunning, especially the purple one <3
I haven't still tried their nail polishes but since we have their store now in Zagreb (yay for that!) I definitely will. For now, I'm "only" addicted to their lipsticks and intense lipglosses :D

wow, I fell like I have to have these pretties!
Faux pas kinda reminds me of a purple Orly lauched some times ago…with a plastic look!
    very pretty!

I’ve just received my first Illamasqua polishes (Rare and Poke), can’t wait to try them! Between these two polishes I prefer Kink, the purple one seems too similar to Orly Purple Pleather, which I have.
(mmm, I think it’s darker than the Orly polish)
    Anyway, super nice couple! :)

  6. Yes, I got Faux Pas and Vice! I haven’t worn Vice yet, but I did wear Faux Pas and I really loved it. Like you I wasn’t sure about the rubber finish but I gave it a shot when I was ordering from Sephora’s Family & Friends sale and I’m so happy that I did. Then I got lucky and found Orly Viridian Vinyl from the Plastix collection on clearance at Ulta for $3, so now I have a nice little trio of this finish.

  7. That purple is so pretty – love the matte look!

Thank you so much Fingers! :) Taint looks gorgeous as well in swatches I’ve seen. I love Illamasqua nail polishes and I think as a next Illamasqua I want to wear Raindrops again. Love it so much and I am glad I purchased it during their summer sale. :)

  9. Gorgeous swatches! Jeez, I always end up staring for ages.

Both are gorgeous, but I really love Faux Pas a tad more because of how rubberized it looks. It really does look like Grape Pop! Beautiful swatches yet again.

I love how they look so…rubbery! The satin finish almost looks like the color is stretched over the nails, like colorful rubber. It’s so cool! The colors are really fabulous too. Ahhh, I love Illamasqua. <3

These are so stunning on you Jeanette, amazing pictures as always and your nails are looking fabulous!! I have tried Faux Pas and Vice (borrowed from my friend) and was the same as you initially about the finish but loved it once it was on the nail. <3 xx

  14. I got exactly the same two polishes and skipped Vice and Taint. I like the finish as it’s not shiny but not a real matte either. Those were my first two Illamasquas and I think I will get some more soon :D
