Holiday layering NOTD with a sparkly gradient: Essie – Ruby Slippers over my Franken – Tartaros over Color Club – Ruby Slippers

There are so many colors to wear and while I usually rotate different colors and finishes I tend to wear a lot of red shimmers and glitters during the Christmas season. Sparkly reds are such a festive holiday manicure classic and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside wearing them.
Today I wanted to try something different with the two namesakes Color Club Ruby Slippers and Essie Ruby Slippers with adding Essie Ruby Slippers as a subtle gradient over Color Club Ruby Slippers. :)

So sparkly! ♥ Isn’t the gold looking glitter in Essie Ruby Slippers breathtaking? I could stare at it all day. I actuall thought the glitter shape would be round but now looking at the macro photos it’s actually hexagon shaped glitter!

To sandwich the sparkly Color Club Ruby Slippers I added one layer of my medium red flakie franken Tartaros to make the glitter gradient of Essie Ruby Slippers stand out more.
Because I was in a rush I just dabbed Essie Ruby Slippers with its brush starting on the tips of my nails up to the almost middle of them.

I am sorry that I am so quiet in the last two weeks. Currently my weekends are all about sleeping and taking naps to recover from the stressful weeks. I have so many swatches, reviews and NOTD which pictures need to be picked, resized and watermarked on my to-do list but instead I am asleep almost all weekend. It makes me so incredibly sad to spend my weekends this way. :( I just hope this week will be better because I am exhausted. :( But back to what we all love: nail polish! ♥

Have you tried a gradient before and if yes which one was your favorite?

Thanks for looking and have a great week! ♥

I don’t have a lot of time to write at the moment, but wanted to make sure you knew. This morning Mary at Swatch & Learn (http://www.swatchandlearn.com/) has had some of her nail art stolen and published in a national publication put out by Sinful Colors nail polish – available at Walgreen’s across the US. The artwork on this page of yours has also been included in the publication. I have a copy of this Sinful Colors pamphlet and this is most definitely a use of your photograph from this page. Sinful Colors has included this picture in their brochure titled “Nail It” as an example of the “Sponge Effect.” If you have authorized the use of your work, then I’m sorry for bugging you, but if you haven’t I wanted to make sure that you knew this had happened. Please feel free to contact me at the email address I have provided if you need any further information. I hope I am not the bearer of bad news, but if I am, please let me know if there’s anything else I can do.

  2. Wow, I’ve never seen a red manicure I’ve loved as much as this one! For some reason red nail polish has never been my cup of tea, but this one certainly is. Thanks for the tip off about Essie’s Ruby Slippers, it’s beautiful! Loving your blog too, it’s a very easy to use layout and the pictures are great!

  3. i absolutely love the color combo you’ve done here. I recently (finally!) decided to quit biting my nails, and once they’re long enough here soon, I plan on using something very similar to this for my first holiday nails :) well done!
