The Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 Ready-To-Wear collection by Marc Jacobs is my favorite fashion collection for the Spring/Summer 2012 season. My budget is spent on beauty and nail polishes but nonetheless I love to follow the fashion weeks and look at pretty dresses or gorgeous shoes. Marc Jacobs’ creations for Louis Vuitton are always breathtaking and his vision for Spring/Summer 2012 is a true inspiration. I adore the mostly soft pastel colors, the layered textures and flowers.
Looking at especially the dresses in the last third of the show is truly inspiring and I knew I had to do a manicure inspired by the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 Ready-To-Wear show one day.
The first attempt to recreate the look from one of the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 dresses failed miserably. I used an opaque white instead of a medium sheer white and only stamped white and black flowers on China Glaze For Audrey. It still looked somewhat pretty but the dimension, the layered elements of the dresses by Marc Jacobs was missing. The manicure looked too flat.
My second attempt today makes me utterly happy though. With the daisies image on the Konad image plate m41 I found the perfect base print for my Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2012 inspired manicure. Because the image isn’t a full nail design I stamped it twice on each nail besides my pinkie. The two flowers on the Konad image plate m60 resemble the layered flowers on the dresses in the last third of the Louis Vuitton perfectly. My favorite dress is in the picture 36 which you can see on style.com.
I almost added silver rhinestones in the center of one flower each on my nails to match the flowers on the original dress better but then I decided against it because they were too big, too heavy for such a light and soft look. Instead I added a layer of China Glaze’s Wireless Holographic Top Coat.
Have you ever recreated a look or made a manicure inspired by a favorite clothing of yours and if yes how did it look like and did you like it?
Thanks for looking and have a great week! ♥
