Catrice – Fred Said Red (690) nail polish: Swatches, Photos and Review

Catrice Fred Said Red 690 swatch jelly red

Jellies are one of my favorite nail polish finish and I was beyond happy to see a new orange red jelly in the new Catrice Spring/Summer 2012 assortment called Fred Said Red (690). I adore jellies so much but still I completely forgot to mention that I purchased Fred Said Red along with King Of Greens (740), Heavy Metallilac (800) and Genius In The Bottle (840) in my post about Heavy Metallilac. How could that happen? Forgetting the purchase of a gorgeous jelly? Me? As a jelly enthusiast? Yes I am a little ashamed of myself. 😀
Fred Said Red (690) is not only a new part of Catrice’s permanent collection it was also released with the March limited edition Nymphelia.

What not to love about this bright squishy orange red nail polish. The formula of Catrice Fred Said Red (690) is fantastic and it applied like a bliss. Two coats for a great jelly coverage. You still can see a bit of the nail line but I don’t mind. I adore this slight translucent look. Because it spread so easily on the nails you could even just apply one coat for an even more translucent finish. With three coats Fred Said Red should be completely opaque.

Have you picked up any new products of Catrice recently? :)
Today I saw the new limited edition Revoltaire and I am impressed. Three gorgeous lipsticks called Colour Bomb (matte coral), Nude Alarm (nude lustre) and Bloody Red (matte blood red which reminds me a bit of MAC So Scarlet from Cult of Cherry) and the coral gradient blush Colour Bomb? Stunning.

The blush reminds me of MAC Ripe Peach from Spring Colour Forecast or the Estée Lauder coral gradient blush Peach Nuance. The nail polishes were a bit underwhelming though. The acid green Innocent Toxin looked kinda like Illamasqua Radium and the brown/beige with blue shimmer Attracting Camouflage looked like Illamasqua Bacterium – both from last years Toxic Nature collection. The acid green nail polish Innocent Toxin looks pretty but Catrice already has an acid green in their assortment which looks very similar: ACid/DC (810).

I might check back for the nail polishes again later but so far I am more impressed with the lipsticks, blush and eye shadow palettes. I picked the Toxic Combination quad up and I liked how the testers of the eye shadows swatched. The second quad Explosive Combination was a bit too frosty for my taste and the matte brown sadly not pigmented enough.

Thanks for looking and have a great week! ♥
