It is safe to say that Cirque has the potential to be one of the – if not the – upcoming indie brand of 2012.
Cirque is a new artisanal line of hand-blended nail polishes made in New York and Annie’s first collection Dark Horse is a beautiful collection of a stunning variety of finishes. Shimmer, glitter, holographic and duochrome – be still my heart.
The first nail polish I swatched just had to be the breathtaking dark purple holographic/prismatic Fascination Street.
What now to love about Fascination Street. The dark cool toned purple base with a just as beautiful muted pink shimmer and as the ultimate cherry on to the strong linear holographic shimmer.
The linear holographic shimmer in Fascination Street is so strong that it even shows up in my lightbox where I take pictures with indirect lighting:

Fascination Street is pure linear holographic perfection. I was amazed to see that the holographic/prismatic effect even showed up in my lightbox where I have indirect lighting – usually the killer of most holographic nail polishes. The formula of Fascination Street was perfect as well. The application was smooth, easy and opaque after two thin to medium coats. Because Cirque nail polishes are hand-blended it is recommended to shake them a little before application.
I wish I could purchase Cirque nail polishes one day directly at their booth at the Hester Street Fair. Annie has a few booth exclusive shades which look like breathtaking glitter and shimmer top coats. You can check out a post about the Cirque booth at Gotham Polish. To take better pictures of holographics and subtle shimmers I have purchased a new lamp at IKEA. Taking pictures directly under a lamp with strong direct lighting is much better to catch holographic effects and also subtle shimmers which hardly show up in indirect lighting. I had a little lamp before but it was too little to place my hand perfectly under it to be able to take a variety of pictures with different angles. With FORMAT and a halogen lightbulb I am happy now and I love how the pictures turned out. I hope you like them too.

Yay you made a great purchase Suzanne! Don’t be disappointed when you receive it and it looks lighter in indirect light. Fascination Street is much darker in direct light when the holo particles are alive.
