Neon Brush Stroke Manicure

Neon Brush Stroke Manicure with OPI My Vampire Is Buff and the China Glaze Poolside collection

November is the perfect month to wear neons, right? 😀

Today I was in the mood for something different and I was missing wearing neon nail polishes. I love glowy and vampy nail polishes for Fall but I strongly believe in wearing all nail polishes all the year round. First I thought of a neon french tips manicure but then decided to do a Neon Brush Stroke Manicure feat. four of my beloved China Glaze Poolside neons instead.
I must confess that on Sundays I usually apply a new manicure sitting on my couch watching dvd (Revenge Season 1 today) and a Brush Stroke Manicure was much easier to do while watching Emily use her red Sharpie®.

As a base I picked OPI My Vampire Is Buff because I thought a white base would be too harsh. As usual this Neon Brush Stroke Manicure is much, much brighter in real light than on the pictures. It will be so much fun to stare at while the weather is dark and gray. :)

What I love about Brush Stroke Manicures is that you don’t have to apply the brush strokes perfectly. I wiped off as much of the neon nail polishes on each nail polish’s brush as possible before applying it randomly to have a more “destroyed” look.

I only wish I would have more patience applying pastel nail polishes like My Vampire Is Buff. Because I applied it too fast and didn’t pay attention I needed more coats than necessary to make it even. 😀

OPI – My Vampire Is Buff: three (was opaque with two but I suck at applying pastels)
Brush Stroke topping
China Glaze – Yellow Polka Dot Bikini
China Glaze – Sun Worshiper
China Glaze – Flip Flop Fantasy
China Glaze – Pool Party
Base coat and top coat
Base coat: OPI – Nail Envy Matte & Nfu.Oh – Aqua Base
Top Coat: Essence – Better Than Gel Nails Top Sealer Fast Dry (sadly discontinued)
The Poolside nail polishes were sent to me by China Glaze for review consideration.

Do you also like wearing neons in Fall or Winter? :)

  1. I love it! There’s just something about brush stroke manicures that I really like, maybe because they don’t have to be perfect and you can just be random with color. Your neon version looks great :)

  2. Gorgeous! Love the colors. I might try this, but I’m not usually very adept at these Types of manicures but I’m going to try using some pastel colors! Wish me luck!

I am sure your manicure will look gorgeous! :) Just make sure you use as little nail polish on the brush as possible. I striped off as much as I could on the bottle neck and when it was still too much remaining on the brush I brushed it off on a paper. :)
